Message from FFNC

To ALL Clubs

The first round of Small Sided Football for the season was played last Saturday for most teams and I have received feedback today (and several phone calls to me personally Saturday) that requires clarification.

  • The Laws/Rules for SSF were sent to all clubs by e-mail 1st February.
  • Each team plays ONE game per week only.
  • Game times are 15 minutes each half (Grade 6 & 7) 20 minutes per half (Grade 8 & 9) 25 minutes per half (Grade 10 & 11).
  • MAXIMUM players per team are FOUR (Grade 6 & 7) SEVEN (Grade 8 & 9) NINE (Grade 10 & 11)

It appears that some coaches (and parents) decided that they would vary these things, including game time and how many players on the pitch at the same time. Although recognising reasons why this may occur, the laws have been determined to ensure consistency and understanding for everyone.

I appeal to ALL clubs to communicate the information about SSF and encourage people to look at the FFA website. Although the intentions of people may not be ill-intentioned, influencing SSF contrary to the way that the game has been designed creates various problems and confusion.

Your assistance is requested.

Regards,
