Coaching Workshops – Monday 14th and Wednesday 16th May

Just a reminder that the coaching workshops are being held this week (tonight and Wednesday) at our Skennars Head Fields. Everyone is welcome.

The workshops will be run by our FFA B Licenced and Premier League Coach Matt Kelso (mob 0499 100 471). These sessions are aimed at club coaches who would like to improve their understanding and application of the techniques used to develop players for the modern game. For new coaches to the game the new coaches session will prove invaluable and provide you with the knowledge and toolkit to kick start your season.

Session 1 – Monday May 14th – 6pm – 8pm at Skennars Head Fields

Designed for experienced team coaches – topics include FFA National Curriculum, skill development & positional responsibilities + Q&A

Session 2 – Wednesday May 16th – 6pm – 8pm at Skennars Head Fields

Designed for new team coaches - topics include FFA National Curriculum, teaching football techniques, the essence of having fun, using the ball purposefully + Q&A

Please support Matt and the club by attending one of these sessions where possible.

Referees Course

To all clubs

To try and promote the need to source more senior referees (over
the age of 18) a Referee course is proposed to be conducted soon. Persons aged
13 or older are welcome to enrol however the focus is on people who will be
eligible to referee senior games. Current players who may be willing to become
referees (even one or two per week) are strongly urged to enrol
in this course. Clubs are also encouraged to source people who may be suitable
candidates as we desperately need more senior referees.

This course is limited in numbers and is very dependent
on getting 12 registered participants.

The course runs over four sessions and participants must
attend ALL four sessions.

Session One: Thursday 10 May

Session Two: Monday 14 May

Session Three: Wednesday 16 May

Session Four (exam): Thursday 17 May

Venue: South Lismore Bowling Club (all 4 nights)

Time: 6.30pm – 9pm (all 4 nights)

Cost: $50 per participant (to be paid on the first
night of the course), which includes law book, course materials and food and
drink on each night.

Seniors who are interested in becoming a referee are
encouraged to register for this course. All course participants must be 13
years of age or older at the time of starting the course.

We now have enough of the free shinpads and balls for the under 7′s. Parents can pick these up on Thursday 19th April at the canteen from 4:30 – 5:30. The canteen will also be open this Saturday for the Premier Division games between 1pm and 5pm (weather permitting).

All players and parents of Makos Grd 15/2 (team currently without a coach) are to meet at the Skennar’s Head Grounds this Tues 27/3/12 at 5.30pm to discuss coaching, team organisation etc. Still have been unable to get a volunteer to coach your team. Your first game is this weekend at home.
